Driving innovation for the multiple myeloma community
Target the Future is a global, multi-year initiative dedicated to advancing innovation and addressing key needs in the multiple myeloma community. The programme provides education on progress in the field of multiple myeloma, identifies key challenges the community faces, and facilitates solutions to create a better future for patients, their caregivers and loved ones.
The programme’s Think Tank Challenge issues an annual call for entries for ideas to create a better future for the multiple myeloma community. Funding of £70,000 (approximately $100,000) is awarded to the strongest proposal to help bring the idea to life.
Target the Future Think Tank Challenge 2022 Winner
Congratulations to the inaugural winner of the Target the Future Think Tank Challenge – the HealthTree Equity and Diversity for Multiple Myeloma Program!
The programme focuses on broadening reach to educate and support myeloma patients and ensure all patients are given equal opportunity for excellent care, by:
- Helping patients understand their treatment options, including clinical trials
- Aiding patients in the search for a multiple myeloma specialist
- Supporting patients emotionally (via one-on-one sessions and in groups)
- Addressing disparities for key ethnic groups (African Americans and Hispanics) and other underserved communities
“I’m a myeloma patient myself and am passionate about supporting my multiple myeloma peers. The key challenge is no longer that programs don’t exist – it’s that patients are not aware of the amazing support that is available,” said Jenny Ahlstrom, HealthTree Founder and CEO and Think Tank Challenge winner.
GSK wishes to express its gratitude for the more than 20 novel Think Tank Challenge entries from around the world, which proposed solutions to finding the right care, addressing disparities and supporting the emotional burden of patients living with multiple myeloma. The call for entries for the next Think Tank Challenge will be issued in fall 2022.
